Our commitment
Eco-responsible
The commitment of Château Saint-Louis: healthy and high-quality wines.
Organic farming
The vines of Saint Louis grow on the Tarn river terraces. The soil composition is typical of the Fronton region: sandy boulbène, gravelly, clayey and lightly acidic. This location, next to the Tarn River, provides a temperate climate favourable to good vine growth.
Vine management
The vines are entirely cared for using organic agriculture methods only. The official body ECOCERT controls all of these operations.
By enhancing biodiversity, we optimise the natural balance in our vines. Between the vines, weeds are removed mechanically — we never use any herbicide. Seeding oat, horse bean and lupin between the vines is a natural way to bring nitrogen from the air into the ground and to control the spread of weeds. To prevent fungal diseases we only use a mixture of copper sulfate and sulfur, always at the lowest recommended dose. None of these products penetrate the grapes, since they can only be used as preventive treatments. Thus our grapes are free of any chemical products. Moreover, to achieve perfect ripeness, leaf-thinning and bud removal are performed each year. All these methods help us to always produce best-quality grapes.
